Characteristics of Hypotonia in Children : A Consensus Opinon of Pediatric Occupational and physical TherapistsPurpose: The term hypotonis is often used to describe children with reduced muscle

yet it remains abstract and undefined .The purpose of this study was to identify characteristics of children with hypotonia to begin the process of developing an operational definition. Methods: Three hundred physical and occupational therapists were systematically selected form the memberships of the pediatric Section of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Developmental Delay Section of the American Occupational Therapy Association and asked to complete an open-ended survey exploring characteristics of strength

endurance

mobility

posture

and flexibility . Results: The response rate was 26.6%. Forty-six physical therapists and 34 occupational therapists participated. The criterion for consensus about a characteristic was being mentioned by at least 25% of respondents form each discipline .The consensus was that children with hypotonia have decreased strength . decreased activity tolerance

delayed motor skills development

rounded shoulder posture

with leaning onto supports

hyper mobile joints

increased flexibility

and poor attention and motivation . conclusion: An objective tool for defining and quantifying hypotonia does not exist . 小兒肌張力減退(Hypotonia)之特徵─兒童專科之職能治療師與物理治療師的共識研究目的：肌張力減退一詞

常用來指兒童因不明確的原因

所造成的肌肉衰退。

這份研究的目的

在於辨識小兒肌張力減退的特徵

以發展出其實務上的定義。

研究方式：我們從美國物理治療公會(American Physical Therapy Association)的小兒科專科

以及美國職能治療公會(American Occupational Therapy Association )的發展遲緩專科的會員裏

有系統的選出三百位物理和職能治療師

要求他們填寫一份開放式的問卷調查

調查肌力

肌耐力

活動力

姿勢

和柔軟度等特徵。

研究結果：回答率為26.6%。

四十六位物理治療師

三十四位職能治療師

參與了這次的問卷研究。

在答卷者中

若有25%以上的物理治療師

和25%以上的職能治療師

共同提及一項特徵時

我們便將認定為『共識』。

對於兒童肌張力減退

所得的共識有：肌力減弱

活動容忍度降低

動作發展遲緩

彎腰駝背

倚靠支撐物

關節過度變形

柔軟度增加

以及注意力和主動能力較差。

研究結論：我們並未使用任何客觀物件

來界定和量化肌張力減退的特徵。

我們建立了兒童肌張力減退的初步特徵

然而還需進一步的研究

使其更具客觀性和明確性。
